Trek Vietnam Pu Luong Nature Reserve August

August may not be an ideal month for trekking in Pu Luong Nature Reserve since August falls into the summer in the northern Vietnam when the temperature is quite hot, at about  31 degree C day time. The temperature sometimes goes up to 35 - 38 degree C outside. The temperature can be lower at night, about 24 degree C. The sky is clear with about 5 hour sunshine per day. The big rain is quite often but does not last for days. It is humid and uncomfortable. Only short treks are recommended to those travelling to Pu Luong Nature Reserve in August.

The Pu Luong Nature Reserve, belonging to Cuc Phuong mountain range, the largest remaining area of lowland limestone forest in the northern Vietnam, is an important example of Limestone Karst, ecosystems renowned for their complexity, richness and beauty.

To reach Pu Luong Nature Reserve, travelers can either book a private car with driver in Hanoi or take the public bus which leave My Dinh bus station daily. Most of travelers travel from Hanoi to Mai Chau. The road transfer takes about four hours. Upon their arrival in Mai Chau village, they make a stop for lunch before heading towards Pu Luong Nature Reserve.

There is a wide selection of trekking tours can be arranged in Pu Luong Nature Reserve ranging from the overnight trek to the 5-day trek. Based on trip length and guest special interest, different ethnic villages and hiking trails are added to the packaged tour. The two-day tour usually includes a car transfer from Mai Chau to Sai village where trekkers start their overnight hike through local Thai hamlets, rice fields before being picked up again and transferred back to Hanoi via Mai Chau. The longer treks offer the opportunity to begin the tour in Sai village near Mai Chau and ends up in Pho Doan townlet where the car is ready for the journey back to Hanoi via Ho Chi Minh trail.

Pu Luong trekking tours used to be provided with English-speaking tour guide, car transfers, homestay, meals, local porters, trekking equipments. During the hike travelers will share the house with the host with private bedding setup. They sleep on wooden or bamboo floor. Soft mattress and mosquito net are provided on the spot. Although hot water is available, the life conditions are very simple and limited. Those who wish having a luxury, comfortable trek should not book a Pu Luong trekking package.

If you are about to plan your trip to Pu Luong Nature Reserve in August, please note this is not the ideal month to do a challenging multi-day trekking tour since the weather is quite hot in the northern Vietnam, the Pu Luong Nature Reserve in August. It sometimes rains with big rains. The rains does not last for days but this can make the hiking trail slippery and dangerous. Therefore, there are many days of sunshine. The sky is blue and clear. Long treks are not recommended for holidays with kids. We only recommend the two-day treks and the three-day treks to Pu Luong Nature Reserve. You will spend about 4 or 5 hours trekking per day. The adventure tour should be arranged in combination with either the Tam Coc tour or Halong bay tour where you can do some water activities.
